Amanda Madumere is a writer and multi-disciplinary artist. Her work exists at the intersection of identity, socio-political issues and culture. She memorializes the past, documents the present and re-imagines the future through painting, photography and performance.
She founded Arusi Reads, a platform that promotes African literature. In 2020, Amanda produced Woke Train, a radio program that creates awareness on socio-political issues facing women and other minorities in Africa. She also co-created Home Museum, an inclusive digital art exhibition on African cultural heritage. Amanda’s work has been shown at Art X Lagos, LagosPhoto Festival and The Peace Exhibit. Amanda is a Nairobi Writing School alum and currently edits Kaedi Africa.
